101 in 1001

I’ve been floating around the blogosphere for a while. It’s no surprise that we love lists. We are list people. I have seen a 101 in 1001 page on most blogs, and it got me thinking. Could I do it? Did I want to do it? Well, I think I got my answer, right? I was inspired by Mackenzie, who blogs at Design Darling. Her list is absolutely amazing. Check it out and I guarantee that you will be inspired to create your own too!

101 in 1001

Starts: June 6, 2015

Ends: March 3, 2018

  1. Get my undergrad degree.
  2. Read one book in a day.
  3. Have a proper savings plan.
  4. Shift my blog to a self-hosted site.
  5. Donate blood.
  6. Answer these fifty questions (part one/part two/part three/part four/part five).
  7. Completely disconnect for 24 hours.
  8. Visit Wellington.
  9. Try a fitness class.
  10. No café coffee for a month (31/31)
  11. Go on an overnight trip alone.
  12. Go ice-skating.
  13. Watch a movie the day it comes out.
  14. Move out. Properly.
  15. Exercise five days a week for a whole month.
  16. Overhaul my blog (edit old posts, branding, layout, etc.).
  17. Make every recipe in a cookbook.
  18. Read a set university textbook cover-to-cover.
  19. Go to bed at 10:30pm every night for two weeks.
  20. Host a Twitter chat.
  21. Attend a #brunchclub event. 
  22. Send a care package to a friend living overseas.
  23. Kiss in the rain.
  24. Watch the sunrise and sunset on the same day.
  25. Go without alcohol for a month.
  26. Plan a surprise for a family member.
  27. Have brunch with friends.
  28. Have a pet (even if it is a pet goldfish and/or pet rock).
  29. Document major events for a year (birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc.).
  30. Read fifty books (16/50).
  31. Attend a concert.
  32. Read for thirty minutes a day for a month.
  33. Try a cronut.
  34. Be totally caffeine-free for a whole month.
  35. Attend a Meetup/Eventbrite event in Auckland.
  36. Play mini golf.
  37. Have my makeup professionally done.
  38. Write a letter to myself to open at the end the challenge.
  39. Wear togs on the beach for an entire afternoon.
  40. Go to a wine tasting event.
  41. Reread the Harry Potter series.
  42. Put $5 into savings for every accomplished goal ($20.00/$505.00).
  43. Renew my passport.
  44. Complete a colour run.
  45. Dress up for Halloween (or a Halloween party).
  46. Get a MAC beauty product.
  47. Get my full drivers licence.
  48. Attend a networking event.
  49. Read the newspaper every day for a week.
  50. Sponsor a blog that I love.
  51. Learn something new.
  52. Whiten my teeth.
  53. Organise a date.
  54. Write a guest post for another blog.
  55. Blog every day for a week.
  56. Buy someone flowers. Just because.
  57. Memorise a recipe.
  58. Sort through all my social media accounts.
  59. Organise my phone (delete old contacts, messages, photos, etc.).
  60. Try thirty recipes from Pinterest (1/30).
  61. Pay for a stranger’s coffee.
  62. Establish a new feature on my blog.
  63. Attend a high tea.
  64. Sleep under the stars.
  65. Go sky-diving.
  66. Stop taking sugar in my coffee.
  67. Get my third (and final) tattoo.
  68. Submit a piece of writing to a website (and have it published).
  69. Write in a journal every day for one month (0/28).
  70. Get a plant and keep it alive (for this whole challenge (408/1001).
  71. Get a psychic reading.
  72. Visit the zoo.
  73. Touch/ride in my favourite car of all time.
  74. Go to lunch/dinner/coffee (in a completely platonic manner) with an ex.
  75. Send out Christmas cards.
  76. Buy a Pandora charm for myself.
  77. Go skinny-dipping.
  78. Make my own sushi.
  79. Do something active every day for two weeks.
  80. Go makeup free for one week.
  81. Complete a thirty day yoga challenge.
  82. Ignore the statistics page on my blog for a week.
  83. Declutter.
  84. Try a cupcake from The Girl On The Swing.
  85. Upgrade my camera.
  86. Visit the Sky Tower.
  87. Write 50 pages for a book (0/50).
  88. Read a biography.
  89. Pay off $1,000 of my student loan ($0/$1,000).
  90. Pick up a hitchhiker (and live to tell the tale).
  91. Don’t swear for a whole day.
  92. Connect with an old lecturer/tutor. Say thank you.
  93. Go one month without candy (28/28).
  94. Go on a blind date.
  95. Write my 500th blog post.
  96. Make my bed every day for one month (28/28).
  97. Volunteer/donate.
  98. Attend a (motor) race event.
  99. Get my first “real job”.
  100. Wear high heels for a night.
  101. Complete this list (and start a new one).

  1. oh man, I am simultaneously inspired and terrified! I’m not sure I can come up with 101 concrete goals for myself, but I loved reading yours, and I’m seriously considering giving it a try.

  2. Hi! Lovely to meet you 🙂 I’m ready your list and a lot of them would be similar to mine if I had one. Tomorrow you’ll tick #brunchclub off right- it’ll great me ‘real life’ meet you then haha. Also- I’ve just started going to barre/pilates/yog (yet to try yoga as I’m a wuss haha). If you’re ever keen to go then let me know!

      1. Haha it’s actually less scary than just going to the gym… I get paranoid about people seeing me, but in a class we are all in it together! Still a wuss about yoga tho…

          1. My new fave class this year- actually I have two- spin class and barre! Last year I was all about step class haha, high intensity cardio and great music it was awesome. Barre is cool- awesome workout, bit more dynamic than yoga/pilates. Makes me feel like a baby ballerina haha!

  3. Wow this is quite inspiring! I may do one of these myself. I like that you put a mix of big and small goals. Some of these things I’ve done myself and although they are accomplishments i feel that I didn’t give them the proper “Go me!” attention that being able to cross them off a list would bring.
    Also congrats on making your bed everyday for a month! I’d be crazy for me to achieve that sort of commitment. I’ll have to give it a shot sometime lol

  4. I love this idea! I just posted a 30 Before 30 list (and am generally list obsessed – hence the blog name). On my list, I also have wanting to disconnect from the digital world for a period of time. Between work and blogging, it feels like I’m way to connected to screens sometimes.
