6 TV Shows You Should Binge Watch

A lot of people seem to think that I sit around and binge watch TV shows all day.

…And they’re surprised when I say that isn’t the case. At all.

Apparently.the answer of “Be a mother to my son” isn’t an answer – or not a ‘full answer’ at least. A lot of people seem to think that I sit around and watch TV whilst a child hangs off my boob. One half of that equation is wrong, but I’ll let you guess which half. Hint: No one has touched my boobs in a long time. Including Caelen.

I guess that answers that question.

Yes – I do happen to watch a bit of TV, but it’s between the feeding-changing-playing-changing-feeding routine we have. It largely serves the purpose of being background noise. I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand to sit in a silent room (and there’s only so much “music” I can take). My binge-watching days started when I was a whale (aka the entire third trimester) and they never really stopped.

I guess I’m the self-titled Queen of Netflix (and all things TV-related). And – surprisingly – I’m not even mildly ashamed of this title.

Riverdale

Riverdale is a show about small town life and how a lot of dirt can lie beneath a squeaky-clean surface. Everything seemed picture-perfect in Riverdale – until it wasn’t. The death of a rich Blossom twin sparks an investigation that sweeps up the entire town and – little by little – the truth is revealed. And it isn’t pretty.

Needless to say, I was absolutely hooked on this show after one episode. I mean, a Kiwi actor stars as one of the leading roles! That means we’re obliged to watch it, right? Riverdale is the perfect TV show to binge-watch because it has an absolutely bangin’ cast…and – you know – the sub-plots surrounding all the characters are pretty cool, too. (Warning: It can be predictable at times, but it’s still brilliant.)

10/10 cannot wait for the next season to come out.

Younger

I was a massive fan of Hilary Duff when I was young. I mean, massive. I have watched A Cinderella Story and The Lizzie McGuire Movie more times than I can count. I love a good chick flick (occasionally) and she seems to be the actress in most of them, so it seemed pretty obvious that I was going to give Younger a shot.

Younger is remarkably similar to Suits. A 40-something divorced mother has to find a way to support herself (and her daughter), so she enters the world of publishing as a twenty-six year old. The episodes follow her life of working in publishing, dating, and generally getting her life back together whilst trying to keep her ‘I’m actually forty’ secret.

When Calls The Heart

When my mother picked this TV show, I was very, very skeptical as it seemed to be very, um, girly. I was right, but that didn’t stop the whole house from becoming absolutely hooked on the show. When Calls The Heart is set in 1910 and it follows the life of a high society woman – Elizabeth Thatcher – as she embarks on her first teaching assignment in a small coal-mining town. I’m a bit of a history nerd, so I love anything set ‘back in the day’.

The show is a tad predictable – and slow at times – but that didn’t stop us from binge-watching it in three or four days. Did I mention that this show has four seasons? Yeah, we were just that addicted.

Suits

Ah, Harvey Specter. Be still my beating heart, for he is the man of my dreams. Seriously, has anyone seen that man? Has anyone seen the whole cast? They’re all pretty attractive by their own rights.

Suits follows the life of a man who lied his way into a job as a lawyer. We all know it’s a crime to practice law if you aren’t a lawyer, but Mike Ross seems to think this is nothing more than a minor detail. Needless to say, the whole show is based around Harvey and Mike kicking some legal ass (whilst being very, very attractive) and trying to keep Mike’s secret from getting out of the office.

It can be a bit repetitive at times, but that was bound to happen due to the nature of the show. There are only so many ways Mike’s ‘secret’ can be threatened before something dramatic *has* to happen. However, I happen to have a soft spot for anything law-centric. I mean, attractive men in suits? I’m here for it.

#GIRLBOSS

I have the #GIRLBOSS book, so it was natural that I wanted to watch the TV series. You’ll recognise the plot if you’ve read the book or are familiar with the rise of Sophia Amoruso. I binge-watched this show during the long, long nights of looking after Caelen. It was quick, girly and mind-numbing. It was also very, very addictive. I guess it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to hear that I watched every episode within two days. Would I watch it again? Probably not.
