I know I was all like ‘How is it the middle of the year?’ in my goals for June post, but I really mean it this time.
How the hell are we in July?
Is this some cruel trick when you have a baby? Like, “Oh, you want time to slow down? Well, we’re going to do the opposite of that.” Deal with it. It feels like I had Caelen just yesterday, but I’m staring at an almost five month old baby.
Today, we’re both getting in some tummy time as I write out this post. He’s staring at the screen of my laptop like it’s a television…or some magical portal to another world. Maybe it is. Maybe he’ll see a laptop as a way to connect with people rather than ignore them. Maybe he’ll grow up to be a writer. Maybe that wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.
I had such high hopes for June, and all of them went out the window when I decided that I was going to stay in Auckland for three weeks. I’m not even mad. I had the best time in Auckland and I would do it all again in a heartbeat. Because I have a love for a city that everyone seems to hate.
I think I drank 1.5 litres of coffee each day. I only read one book. I did get out of the house most days. That was definitely good for the soul and I’m glad I managed to achieve it while I was in Auckland. Caelen now clocks over an hour of tummy time a day (and loves it), so I’ll call that one a win. I think it will be blatantly obvious that I did not post three times a week while I was away. I would say I’m sorry, but blogging with a baby is hard at the best of times. Factor in being in a different city, and you have a recipe for blogging disaster. You know what’s worse? I didn’t take any photos. At all. I’m pretty sure I get sent to blogger hell for that faux pas. I could lie and say that I cooked once a week, but I think we’d all know that it was a blatant lie, too.
I guess I have a few things to work on for July!
ONE. Join a Twitter chat once a week. As it turns out, I actually like interacting with people on Twitter, so I’m trying to do it more frequently (and with new people). Twitter chats are the way to go, no?
TWO. Read two books. I think my ‘four books’ goal last month was a tad ambitious, so I’m bringing it back a bit. I might surprise myself and end up reading six. Who knows?
THREE. Reply to emails within forty-eight hours. I am that person. I know. I hate me, too.
FOUR. Drink more water.
FIVE. Workout three days a week. I’m not talking about just going for a walk. I’m talking about proper ‘holy hell I’m dying why am I doing this?’ sort of workout.
SIX. Cook once a week. I’m back at home for the foreseeable future, so I won’t have an excuse. I’m going to spend the next few days looking through my cookbooks and pick out a few recipes I want to try!
SEVEN. Post three times a week. For real this time. My goal is every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Watch this space!
