Getting To Know the Girl Behind the Blog

I’ve seen a few new faces around here, so I thought it was about time to give you a rundown on who I am and what makes me tick! It has been a while since I wrote one of these and a few things have changed, so hopefully I don’t repeat myself. I will do my best!

I love blogs because they usually give you a glimpse of the person behind it. I feel like the best blogs for this are lifestyle or personal blogs because it is a person just…talking. About anything. You usually get a good feel for a person if you read through their archives. Heck, just by looking at the title of the previous blog posts. You can get to know a lot about a person through what they write about.

I’m an open book.

Ask my friends and they’d say that I am too open.

Let’s start with something simple (and obvious, if you happen to read my about me page).

#1: I’m twenty-two years old and I was a public relations student. It took a good few years for me to land on this path, but it has been a wonderful journey. It has seen me change cities, lifestyles and myself. I finished my last paper this year and I’m waiting to hear back on my final grades. Fingers crossed I passed everything because…

#2: I’m pregnant. It was a surprise, but a happy one. I am officially twenty-eight weeks pregnant and the baby will be making an appearance on February 27th 2017. I know this because I have been giving him a stern talking to for a long, long time now. I have been blogging about my pregnancy because I want to remember. Everything.

#3: I have moved around a lot in my life. When I was 18, I moved to Hamilton to study and be with my friends. However, it took a year and a half for me to work out that I wasn’t happy. Not really. Six months after that, I moved to Auckland and started from scratch. It was scary, but I ended up loving every second of being in that city. I am a city girl at heart, but I am currently living in a little place on the Coromandel Peninsula.

#4: I am the perma-single friend. You know the one. They’re either constantly going on first dates, casually seeing someone (while knowing it’s going to go nowhere) or simply frolicking about and enjoying life. Right now, I’m frolicking about and enjoying life. A friend of mine told me to get out there and start dating, but it feels a tad strange to date someone while pregnant. Plus my sex drive has taken a serious nosedive, so there’s that.

#5: I am a mega bookworm. I could read all day, every day and I would be the happiest person on the planet. My favourite authors are Jodi Picoult, Paullina Simons, and J.K Rowling. I’m also quite smitten with The Host by Stephanie Meyer. I love books so much that I have thought about trying to get into the publishing industry. One day.

27 weeks pregnant

#6: I love meat lovers pizza, sushi, banoffee pie, strong coffee, ginger kisses, and sherbet fizzy candies more than I should.

#7: I started blogging anonymously when I was sixteen. I had the cliché, angsty ‘no one understands me’ teen blog that got me hooked on blogging. I never, ever thought that I’d be blogging six years later. Now I prefer to write about college, dating and relationships (or lack thereof), and pregnancy. I guess that’s the beauty of being marked as a personal or lifestyle blogger. I can write about anything. I chose Little Misadventures as my blog name with the hope that it could grow with me. So far, so good. Don’t you think?

#8: A cat is my spirit animal. They nap constantly, love food, and like to be cuddled when it suits them. That’s me in a nutshell.

#9: Thanks to my ex, I now hate sleeping alone. I used to say it was one of the best things about being single, but I’ve changed my mind. It is the worst. I can’t fall asleep if it’s dead silent. I got accustomed to talking to someone until we fell asleep, to hearing someone else breathe next to me, to waking up next to someone. I thought I’d ‘grow out of it’ but that moment hasn’t happened yet, so I load Netflix and watch some of my favourite shows to help me get to sleep.

#10: I’m expecting a son. A son. After all this time, my intuition was right. I am going to have a little baby boy. Surprise! I’m currently struggling with names, so if anyone has any suggestions then feel free to send them my way!

#11: I thought I had loved someone before, but this is unlike anything I have ever felt. I love this little person more than words. I finally get why parents are so damn proud of their children and will go to the ends of the earth for them.

#12: I often get asked what I like to do for fun, well here’s a list: write, read, blog, read some more, run although that has been limited to walking now, go on road trips, fishing, camping, and I even bake. Sometimes.

#13: I have a thing about numbers. I actually hate writing them down in numerical form. Creating this list has been painful. I also need to have the volume on an even number when I’m listening to the radio, TV or watching Netflix. I cannot do uneven numbers (unless it’s thirteen).

#14: My first ‘crush’ (I can remember) was on Draco Malfoy. Waddup Slytherin.

#15: I am a morning person. Yep, I am that annoying ball of sunshine that you want to punch in the face. I may complain about the alarm a few times, but I’m awake for good once I’m awake…or that used to be the case before I got pregnant.

#16: It takes a lot for me to admit that I like someone. Mainly because I’m not talking about a silly little crush. I’m already developing some serious feelings by the time I tell someone I like them. This means that it takes me longer to move on when a relationship ends. So, take note future boyfriend, because I’ll be saying this to you one day.

#17: I kept the teddy bears from my childhood with the hopes of passing them down to my children. Safe to say my son has a decent collection already.

#18: I was (and possibly still am) scared of the ocean.

There you go!

Eighteen facts about me. Hopefully you learned something new about me! 🙂

    1. Thank you! I am so excited about having a son 🙂 I just want him here NOW, but I guess I can wait until the end of February. I don’t know why I had a crush on Malfoy though! Haha I’ve been watching all the old movies and I’m just asking myself “WHY?” the whole time.

  1. Great list! Even with numerical numbers …..
I’m quite partial to the name Connor – it’s what we named our wee boy who is now four point five years old. I do not know where that time has gone … we also loved Fletcher, Alex and Reuben!
