How to Make Online Shopping Easier

Okay, I have something a little different for you today.

A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by Raminta Lilaite from Lilas PR. She took the time to send me an email regarding a company, Big Apple Buddy, which is based in the United States. I was immediately intrigued by the company, which may or may not have been fuelled by my desire to return to America and my love of online shopping.

Phillis Chan and Ben Chaung founded Big Apple Buddy in 2014 when they moved to the United States. They found that they were getting requests from friends and family in Australia who wanted the latest gadgets released in America. This was when they discovered that they had the beginnings of a business. Big Apple Buddy was born with a vision to create a world “where shopping has no borders”.

I don’t know about you, but I am a huge fan of online shopping. I buy a lot of stuff (books, perfume, exercise equipment) through websites like Amazon. The whole process is seamless and pain-free…until you get the does not ship to New Zealand stamp show up in the corner of your screen. I get it. We’re a small country in the middle of nowhere. Who would want to ship product here?

It turns out Big Apple Buddy does.

“Since launching the company, we have developed a loyal client-base in over 50 countries around the world, spanning from the UK to Saudi Arabia to Australia. Our clientele is primarily made up of professionals who simply want the latest products quickly and hassle-free” says Ms. Chan, the co-founder. “It feels very rewarding to provide consumers around the world with access to goods otherwise unavailable in their country.”

Big Apple Buddy, if it is possible, makes online shopping even easier. A client can submit a request and essentially forget about it. Big Apple Buddy sources the item for the best price, checks and repackages the goods upon arrival at their facility, prepares all necessary customs documentation and has the parcel shipped to the client in as little as 2-4 business days.  I’m not surprised to hear that clients often describe the service as “efficient”, “smooth” and “effortless”.

They have shipped everything from the Apple Watch, Microsoft Band and Jawbone UP3 wearables, the Seek Thermal infrared camera for smartphones, and the Kindle Voyage to fashion brands including Ralph Lauren, Levi¹s Jeans, Lilly Pulitzer, Hugo Boss, Michael Kors and Coach.

Big Apple Buddy seeks to break down international shopping barriers and is doing so one client and one delivery at a time.

I don’t know about you, but I feel like I found another way to do my online shopping. It seems like I always manage to find a good product, only to discover that they only ship within the US or that Australia is the closest shipping destination. I think we all know that it only adds fuel to the New Zealand vs. Australia rivalry. I have always had a fantasy of handing someone a list of products and having them appear on my doorstep with little fuss. I thought it was an out of reach fantasy until I heard about Big Apple Buddy. It turns out I was wrong, and I will definitely be putting Big Apple Buddy to the test in the future.
