I Found My Princess Home

I’ve mentioned a couple of times that I’ve been looking for a house to rent on the North Shore in Auckland. It has been an adventure that has made me want to tear my hair out, cry, punch a kitten (not really) and ultimately, just live with my mum for the next two years rent free.

The last option sounded good (duh) because everyone loves free things and trying to organise house viewings from a town that is three hours away is a bit trying. I also confess that I still don’t really want to leave my beach. This place has finally gotten under my skin and I’ve grown quite a soft spot for it, and the people who live here.

That being all said and done, I have finally found my house!

Oh, how I wish it looked like that.

I ventured into Auckland (again) and actually crossed the harbour bridge twice without causing an almost accident! I think that deserves a round of applause. If anyone knew my track record with cars then they would know that I was being 100% serious. I looked at six houses yesterday, met a tonne of different people and drove all over an area that was completely unfamiliar to me. Ultimately, I ended up going with the very first house that I viewed.

It was in a nice area and within five kilometres to my college. It was a decent sized room and the house itself had an amazing deck. I could go on and on and on about how good the house was, but it’s always the people that make the house, right? I was told that there were four people living in the house at the moment, yet I only met the husband. I got a good vibe from him (hallelujah) so I figure that I’ll just go with my gut and hope for the best.

What’s the ultimate kicker about this place?

I don’t have to pay or sign anything until my move in date.

Say what?

I know that means that they could pull the rug out from under my feet and give the room to someone else, but I just have a feeling that they won’t do that. Fingers crossed. The other amazing thing is the internet. The husband studied engineering, is currently studying accountancy and (I’m assuming) is a gamer of some sort because he said that he needs fast internet. Hey, I’m not going to complain about that one 😉

So there we have it folks! Two weeks into my desperate house hunt and I have found a place that I love! The next two weeks will consist of working, packing, more work, more packing, probably a few tears and then a huge drive up to Auckland!

Eep!

I am so excited for my fresh start!

    1. Me too! I am getting so excited for everything to happen! I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed for a painless move! I’m starting to condense all my stuff now, so it should be relatively easy when it finally comes to d-day! 🙂

  2. Congrats on finding a place! As a college student who has moved to three different places in one year, I can relate! Hope it works out for you 🙂
