Looking Forward: My 2015!

Well, we’re finally at the end of 2014! How weird is that? It seems like the year flew by at lightning speed! I guess the saying of “The days are long but the years are short” really is true. I cannot believe that we are facing a new year already. 2014 has been a good one, but 2015 is going to be even better! You mark my words. I’ve written about my 2014 (found here and here) and now it’s time to look to the future! What do I want my 2015 to look like? If you want to join me in this reflection then head on over to Into Mind to find the prompts or copy and paste them from my previous posts! Don’t forget to link back to this page so I can see all of your answers as well! 😀

  1. What do you want the overarching theme for your 2015 to be? I’m going to be living in a new city, going to a new college and meeting new people. I am going to be somewhere entirely new to me. I want next year to be the year of saying yes and exploring every opportunity that comes my way!
  2. What do you want to see, discover, explore? I managed to make myself a ‘regular’ at a couple of cafes and other places. I want to do the same thing in Auckland. I want to find a new café, I want to discover a new favorite beach and I want to explore a new walking/hiking trail and Auckland in general.
  3. Who do you want to spend more time with in 2015? Anyone who will have me 😉 I kid, I kid. I’m going to be living in a new city, so I want to strengthen the few friendships that I already have and I want to establish a lot more once I start university. I might have a little bit of resting bitch face syndrome, especially when I’m in a boring lecture, but I swear I just want to be friends with all the people.
  4. What skills do you want to learn, improve or master? I want to improve my confidence with public speaking and negotiating. I’m thinking about taking a toastmasters course before the end of my university career. You never know, 2015 could be the year that I make it happen. I’ve also been thinking about going self-hosted, so it would be pretty neat to learn a little bit of HTML as well.
  5. Which personal quality do you want to develop or strengthen? A friend of mine is always saying that I need to be more assertive and that I need to stand up for myself, both in a personal and professional capacity. I’m just a way too ‘go with the flow’ kind of person and I don’t mind developing someone else’s idea if they pitch it first or if it’s better than mine. Well, 2015 is the year of being assertive…or failing miserably. Watch this space 😉
  6. What do you want your everyday life to be like? Fun, challenging (in the right way) and an adventure.
  7. Which habits do you want to change, cultivate or get rid of? I want to become a morning person. A true morning person; one who gets out of bed by a certain time in the morning and does stuff with their extra time instead of trolling through the interweb. (But it totally counts if I’m searching for blog-related inspiration, right?).
  8. What do you want to achieve career-wise? I’m just talking short-term here, since I’m still in college. I would like to find a part-time job (in anything) to help fund my frugal spending habits, and to scope out a company (or ten) that I would like to intern for in the future. I have my eye on a few, but they aren’t based in New Zealand, which is bound to cause an issue or two 😉 I need to plan a little closer to home.
  9. How do you want to remember the year 2015 when you look back on it 10/20/50 years from now? I want to look back and know that I had done the right thing for me. That might not line up with the beliefs of others, but that doesn’t matter. I want to be able to look back and be like “Hell yeah, I did that!” or “Well, that didn’t end up so well, at least I learned this…” I want to remember that I did what I wanted, not because someone else influenced by decision-making.
  10. What is your number one goal for 2015? To be content where I am and find a little bit of ‘good’ in every day. I’ve never really been ‘settled’ in the college life and I’ve always been looking for the next thing to do or another degree to transfer to. I’ve done the extreme of changing my enrollment and college, so I should be happy. It was easy for me to be stressed or frustrated with my situation in 2014, but I am bound and determined to find at least one thing that makes me smile or grateful each day in 2015.

  2. I love the prompt questions you used! I also need to be more assertive and stand up for myself more, I can be too lax about things. How exciting to start the new year in a new city and a new college! I can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store for you!
