I usually write goals at the start of the month and steadily ignore them, right? Well, I decided that it was no longer conductive to my mental health AKA that part of me that was screaming what are you doing, you’re getting nothing done! when it comes to writing about my goal attainment or lack thereof at the end of the month. Instead, I have decided to create a set of goals that are going to last me for the rest of the semester. I have study week coming up in the next month or so, so it is definitely time to knuckle down and get on with business.
✚ Finish all my assignments on time, even if it means doing group assignments by myself.
✚ Renew my gym membership and go to the place three times a week.
✚ Attend all tutorials and lectures.
✚ Post on this blog four times a week with content that is more than just my weekly features.
✚ Introduce more green tea to my day/reduce the amount of coffee I drink.
✚ Do something around the house every day.
✚ Reread 2-3 chapters a week, per paper.
✚ Make time to do something for me every week (going for a drive, reading a non-academic book, playing Sims, etc.). Something not connected to exercise, blogging or academia.
✚ Figure out if my company idea really is a viable one. I don’t think I can share this with y’all yet because I’m still being assessed on it, but as soon as I get the green light to mention it, I will!
✚ Set a date to get my braces off, and to take driving lessons so I can get my full (and final) licence. Hooray!
✚ Decide who I want to live with, where I want to live, and what university I want to attend next year.
✚ Be honest to myself and others. I tend to pussyfoot around the subject because I don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings, but sometimes it is just an unavoidable fact of life.
✚ Eat more ‘clean’ groceries AKA stop eating so much processed junk.
✚ Go out wearing heels. Just one time.
✚ Write a letter to my parents. They deserve one.
✚ Learn some basic Italian. (I’ve been learning online and it is super fun).
✚ Blogger meet-up! I really, really, really want this to happen before I move away from Hamilton! We have two months! Lets make this happen!
✚ Seriously, stop hoarding stuff in my bedroom and make my bed every day.
✚ Take advantage of the office hours that my professors provide/ask questions in tutorials AKA don’t be afraid to look stupid.
I’ve had some realities come and smack me in the face during the last eight weeks of this semester; some of them were a nice wake up call, others not so much. However, it is exactly what I need – there is no disputing that. Some of these goals might seem a bit silly or easily attainable but they are the small-yet measurable-stepping stones that my type-a personality needs to see and work towards.
✚ I love this blog and I want to continue to grow it-now and in the future.
✚ I love my body and I want to treat it with the respect that it deserves.
✚ I love academia, but I need to decide what I’m doing with my life for the next three or four years.
✚ I love people and I don’t want to hurt them, but I need to be more honest in saying what I need or what I believe.
Hopefully these goals can help me get to where I want to be.
What are some goals that you have for this semester or for the rest of the year? How many of you are graduating this year or just applying to college? How many of you actually set goals for a certain duration of the year?
